MRSA (Staph)
MRSA (Methicillin resistant Staph aureus)is a "superbug," alright, but in a very bad way! Already resistant to standard penicillin, this strain of Staph is now resistent to the second line of defense, Methicillin - leaving only Vancamycin as the firewall of last resort. Initially limited to healthcare facilities (HA - Hospital acquired, MRSA has morphed into the community now (Community acquired)and poses a serious threat, especially to the immuno-compromised. Prevention remains the best approach, with meticulous handwashing and judicious use of antibiotics. This is one caped-crusader you do not want driving YOUR bat-mo-bile!
