Ear Aches (Streptococcus pneumoniae) ….are no fun! They’re among the most common ailments found in children and can be very uncomfortable. Ear aches. account for a major portion of doctor visits, and the Strep bacteria cause many of the infections that develop in the hospital itself (called nosocomial infections). Antibiotics are effective for treatment, but it is now recommended to wait a few days before administering, to allow the infection to clear by itself. This is so that resistance to the antibiotics is held in check. Keep an ear out for this one!
